Recognized by Education Week for her transformative role as director of mentoring for the innovative, Latino-led edtech startup Edifying Teachers, Katie Caster also serves as an instructor in English Education/TESOL at Teachers College – Columbia University, where she is a 4th year PhD Student. She also adjuncts at Bank Street College of Education in the TESOL/Dual Language Program. Katie has balanced roles in higher education and executive leadership for many years, having served as part of the Latinos for Education program team. Previously, Katie was an urban educator with over fourteen years of experience in Special Education, STEAM, and English as a Second Language. She has taught in a variety of districts including Los Angeles Unified, and Boston Public Schools. Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emerson College in Writing, Literature, and Publishing, and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from California State Dominguez Hills. Additionally, she holds an Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree from Bay Path University.
