New Member Spotlight: Erlinda Doherty

Meet Erlinda Doherty

An ongoing series from The Alumni Society spotlighting its impressive members

 Alma mater: Georgetown | Location: Washington, DC

Where are you from?

I was born in Mission Viejo, California, but raised in Marlboro, New Jersey. My mother was from Peru!

What do you do?

I am an artificial intelligence policy and governance consultant. I’m also a sommelier, wine/spirits educator, writer, and judge.

What is a career accomplishment you’re proud of?

I wrote the first primer on artificial intelligence regulatory considerations for state legislators. I was also recently designated global ambassador from the Consejo Regulador Mexicano por la Calidad de Mezcal (COMERCAM), the Mexican entity charged with protecting and preserving the denomination of origin for mezcal.

In the spirit of giving and receiving, what do you seek from this network and what do you want to contribute?

I would love to contribute my 20+ years of leadership, creative problem solving, and strategic communications skills and expertise derived from diverse private sector, international, and government experiences to help grow and support the network of my fellow Alumni Society members.

What is a fun fact about you that you’d like to share with the network?

I teach wine and spirits classes!
