Meet Jennifer Lucero
An ongoing series from The Alumni Society spotlighting its impressive members
Alma mater: Yale | Location: Los Angeles & San Francisco
I am a Chicana who grew up in Los Angeles, California.
I am the associate dean of admissions, where I lead efforts in the school of medicine at UCLA on admissions, financial aid, and pathway and outreach programs. I also practice clinically in obstetric anesthesia and lead efforts in the department of anesthesia on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI).
I am proud of the diversity within the medical school classes I recruit and pathway programs for students who are the first generation of college and traditionally underrepresented in medicine.
In the spirit of giving and receiving, what do you seek from this network and what do you want to contribute?
I hope to connect with the community with shared experience where we can support and connect to promote each other within the larger system where we historically have had a limited voice in executive leadership positions. I can contribute to the larger conversation within academic healthcare and academics.
Despite being a terrible singer and a profound introvert, I enjoy doing karaoke in the right space with friends and colleagues.
