The Alumni Society and theBoardlist Join Forces

The Alumni Society will introduce its board-ready members to theBoardlist, which works directly with companies and corporations that seek diverse candidates for their boards of directors.

With social pressures rising, new legislation like California’s AB 979 taking shape, and companies like the NASDAQ leveraging their position to drive change, corporations are moving quickly to increase the diversity of their boardrooms. Strategic alliances like that between theBoardlist and The Alumni Society aim to meet the demand. theBoardlist, an organization that works directly with companies to provide them with a pipeline of diverse, qualified candidates, and The Alumni Society, a networking platform for Latinos who graduated from the country’s top universities, will work together to ensure that client companies across the country have ample opportunity to interview and appoint diverse board member candidates.

theBoardlist officially launched in 2015 as a way to get women placed in coveted board member roles in traditionally male-dominated fields. The organization has since expanded to include members of all underrepresented communities. Today, theBoardlist is eager to help companies reach new levels of growth by funneling diverse and qualified business professionals who are leaders and experts in their fields.

What further distinguishes theBoardlist from similar networking organizations is its offer of Candidate Advisory Services, including one-on-one sessions with the company’s head of search, who supports candidates as they craft their board biographies, develop a networking strategy, and build a target company list.

“Our partnership was born out of early and organic placement success with members of The Alumni Society through theBoardlist,” theBoardlist CEO Shannon Gordon said. “We’re thrilled to be formalizing the partnership today to accelerate this kind of impact and elevate The Alumni Society’s impressive membership for board opportunities.”

Latino business professionals increasingly see board memberships as prime opportunities to influence the way major companies expand and reach the ever-growing Latino consumer market, according to The Alumni Society cofounder and CEO Pedro A. Guerrero.

“Much of corporate America and today’s top recruitment firms continue rely upon legacy, homogenous networks, and databases to source the candidates they need for open board positions,” said Guerrero. “This partnership is an effort to expand these networks of diverse leaders—who are succeeding in plain sight—to help them directly find the right opportunities to serve while providing companies new avenues to find the qualified candidates systemically overlooked by antiquated solutions.”
