Director, Software Engineering – Machine Learning

The right candidate is someone who is passionate about data-driven technologies but also passionate about leading and mentoring a great group of data, software and machine learning engineers. We’re looking for someone who welcomes challenges and is hyper-focused on delivering exceptional results to internal business customers while creating a rewarding team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior level leadership during application design and development for highly complex or critical machine learning projects across numerous lines of business and shared technology.

• Build and lead high-performing, agile teams focused on Engineering and Machine Learning

• Determining readiness of new big/fast data capabilities to be used to support critical operational processes

• Ensure cross collaboration with sister teams in other geographies

• Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture and usage of enterprise platforms when delivering projects

• Provide oversight for budgets and project plans, and manage technology risks and issues

• Solve complex business problems by embracing Machine Learning as a solution

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

• At least 7 years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering Practices

• At least 3 years of experience with data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, or Hive)

• At least 3 years of experience with programming languages (Scala, Python, Go or Rust)

• At least 2 years of experience in developing machine learning solutions

• At least 2 years of experience leading engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Management of Info Systems/Technology

• 5+ years of experience in developing machine learning solutions

• 5+ years of experience in financial or other highly regulated industry

• 5+ Years of experience defining data architectures

• 5+ Years of experience leading product engineering teams

• 3+ years of experience influencing executives and solving strategic business problems

• Experience with the full AWS stack

• Experience building microservices

• Background in agile SW development and Scaled Agile Frameworks
