About the Position
Freddie Mac’s Information Security Department ensures the protection and integrity of Freddie Mac’s information assets while enabling world-class information access by combining people, processes, and technology to prevent attacks, reduce vulnerability, and minimize damage and recovery time. Freddie Mac is seeking a Cybersecurity Director to lead the Security Assurance Team with a focus on software assurance, vulnerability management, threat assessment, and penetration testing. The primary focus of the role is on day-to-day operational execution, although it will also include contributing to strategic planning within area of expertise. Responsible for dynamic and static application security testing, penetration testing, and identification and assessing vulnerabilities in the environment (e.g., software, hardware, networks, etc.). The Director will be responsible for the management of Freddie Mac’s vulnerability management program to include network scanning, reporting, and coordinating with stakeholders fr remediation. S/he will be responsible for Vulnerability Threat Assessment program to identify risks across projects and programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the enhancement of Freddie Mac’s software assurance program, to include build-out the security component of Freddie Mac’s DevSecOps program in accordance with industry best practices
- Lead Freddie Mac’s vulnerability management program to identify weaknesses and manage remediation
- Lead Freddie Mac’s penetration testing (red) team to ensure identification and remediation of weaknesses
- Lead Freddie Mac’s Vulnerability Threat Assessment program to identify threats and vulnerabilities in systems and applications
- Work closely with key stakeholders such as IT Infrastructure, IT Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, and application owners to reduce information security vulnerabilities and risk
- Establish operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers
- Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect
- Work on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives
- Implement strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
- Establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements
- Regularly interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers
- Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to relationship
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10-12 years of Information Security experience
- Experience with software assurance best practices and solutions
- Experience leading technical teams
- Executive presence with very strong leadership attributes, business acumen, analytical, problem solving and verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for leading change and ability to bring others along
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field or equivalent work experience
