Meet Juan Castañeda

An ongoing series from The Alumni Society spotlighting its impressive members

Alma mater: Notre Dame | Location: San Diego

Where are you from?

I was born in Lima, Peru and am of Peruvian heritage.

What do you do?

I am a lawyer.

What is a career accomplishment you’re proud of?

The two main career accomplishments I am proud of are representing the United States as an assistant United States attorney and founding our boutique law firm, C+H LLP.

In the spirit of giving and receiving, what do you seek from this network and what do you want to contribute?

Great question. I want to give my energy, attention, time, connections and support. On the personality side, I am a connector and encourager, and professionally, I am an advocate and advisor. I would bring both sides to helping those I meet as part of the society. As for what I am looking to receive, I’d say good relationships, inspiration, and life-giving friendships.

What is a fun fact about you that you’d like to share with the network?

I’ve been married for 23 years to my beautiful wife, Signe. She is of Norwegian descent, and we have six beautiful children (ages 9, 12, 15, 17, 19 and 21) who are a lovely mix of my Peruvian heritage and her Norwegian heritage. My wife is an amazing educator who has founded a Montessori school called Coastal Sage Montessori to provide a nourishing learning community for children. Professionally, with my best friends from Notre Dame Law School, we founded a boutique business law firm with offices in Chicago, Dallas, and San Diego.
