Meet Letty Perez

An ongoing series from The Alumni Society spotlighting its impressive members

Alma mater: Northwestern & Columbia | Location: New York City

Where are you from?

I was born in Monterrey, Mexico and moved to Houston, Texas with my family when I was 8 years old.

What do you do?

I’m passionate about helping organizations unleash the power of their people. As a former educator (Teach For America alum) and current human capital consultant, I’ve spent 10+ years working at the intersection of learning, leadership development, social impact, talent strategy, DEI, and organizational change. Most recently at Deloitte, I’ve been focused on implementing workforce strategies for technology-enabled transformations and Future of Work solutions for Fortune 500 companies across industries.

What is a career accomplishment you’re proud of?

I was named Teacher of the Year by my Teach For America placement school in 2014, after my second year of teaching bilingual Kindergarten. 100% of my students met or exceeded their reading goals in both English and Spanish! Ten years later, I still consider this to be the hardest, most important job I’ve had. It was a privilege to be a child’s first teacher and lay the foundation for both academic skills and a love of learning.

In the spirit of giving and receiving, what do you seek from this network and what do you want to contribute?

Mentorship, sponsorship, career journey inspiration or guidance, joy, and camaraderie. A network of like-minded individuals committed to the concept of “lift as you climb.”

What is a fun fact about you that you’d like to share with the network?

I was the lead singer of my business school’s rock band!
