Sylvia Banderas Coffinet is the chief executive officer for Latino Media Network, a Latina-owned and -led media company laser-focused on serving the Latino community in the United States. Sylvia oversees finance, operations, corporate strategy, and development to drive growth and profitability. Banderas Coffinet has driven growth and monetized leading media brands for more than 17 years by building digital, social, and print content strategies, securing brand partnerships, and leveraging consumer insights and data to optimize the acquisition, engagement, and retention of multicultural and diverse audiences. She embeds a multicultural and diversity lens in every strategic initiative to ensure cultural relevance, authenticity, and consumer equity and inclusion are natural outcomes of marketing campaigns. She has launched some of the most significant content franchises for Latino media in the US marketplace and built significant partnerships with brands like Ford, Toyota, L’Oreal USA, Estée Lauder, Delta, Ulta Beauty, Procter & Gamble, Innovation Refunds, Macy’s, and Target to name a few blue-chip brands she’s won over the years.
Forbes has recognized her as a Trailblazing Latina Executive in Media, and she was named one of Hispanic Executive’s Top 10 Líderes in 2020. Sylvia most recently served as general manager, marketing equity and inclusion partnerships for Vox Media. In her previous role, Sylvia developed a new breed of content that centered multicultural and diverse audiences and offered brand partners a robust platform for engaging with consumers in culturally relevant ways. Her background also includes chief revenue officer and publisher at HELLO & ¡HOLA! Media Inc., national advertising director at PEOPLE en Español, and beauty director roles at Conde Nast’s Glamour and Latina Media Ventures’ Latina magazine.
Sylvia received her undergraduate degree in Latino studies and Spanish literature from Columbia University. She completed the publishing school for professionals’ program at Stanford University and has recently completed Cornell University’s diversity and inclusion certification program. Sylvia is based in New York City.
